Where did you take your first shot from? Top of Druids?

If it is from there, how do you manage to fight for your position amongst all of those other photographers?!

Ill be t here next weekend for the BSB!

Bodmin636 wrote in post #15775927 (external link)
Look like there all from Druids to me.

Will also be there hopefully next week, not sure if on the bike or in the car though.

The first 2 are top of druids through the fence. The second one is exit of druids outside of Graham Hill.
The answer is easy, I went on saturday ! So there are not so many people there. I'm thinking of going to BSB next week and again I'll go on Saturday.

How's this one, not from Druids ?

Well spotted, you mean McLaren ;)
This one is end of Surtees but taken from the exit of Clark curve with 600mm and a gap in the fencing.

"also posted in the lens section"

To say it was a little 'chilly' at Santa Pod on Saturday would have been an understatement! Cory took me along for my birthday and even with the cold and the brief respites waiting for the snow flurries to pass it was a superb day, main highlight by a mile was seeing 2 jet cars go head to head - 1st time in over ten years that this has happened (in the UK at least) and the sound and 'feel' was out of this world.
Just took the 70-200 with the 1.4 extender and stood on the bank near the finish gantry to avoid the crowds and get some head on'ish shots. Drag racing in the snow is a new one on me lol.

#3 - 1/250, f/6.3, iso 100, 280mm - gotta love the ole slingshots
IMAGE: http://www.davidstallardphotography.com/Petrol-Head/Cars/Santa-Pod-30-03-13/i-BBXbrkH/0/L/Santa%20Pod%2030-03-13%20%20098-L.jpg

#4 - 1/250, f/4.5, iso 100, 280mm - still wiping the drool off the keyboard

#5 - 1/250, f/6.3, iso 100, 175mm - Guy walked away, got the sequence but not as sharp as I would have liked, shame as the car was stunning

#6 - 1/640, f/4, iso 400, 125mm - not the best shot in the world by a long shot but I was there for the first side by side jet car race in ten years AND the UK Fireforce won

#7 - and a really tight crop from #4 above - nothing wrong with the mkiii 1.4 extender on the 70-200 2.8 mkii

PS: before I stick it in the ads section I thought I would give you guys 'first dibbs' (sorry if it's not the done thing to do - mods please remove if required)

I am looking at selling my 'as new' 300mm 2.8 mkii which I bought at the end of the year with my redundancy, not really my thing (like my zooms too much) comes with everything it came with and not a mark on it - you could sell it as new it's that good - looking around £4,500 ono includes receipt and big brown packing box as well - will HAVE to be a meet and handover as there is no way on this planet I would post it.

My problem is I Like the racing! So Saturday isn't really my thing.. Although admission is much cheaper. I might do this later on in the year.

Ill be going this Sunday to the BSB as all of my underlay and gripper rod is turning up at the house on Saturday, carpet time at last! Been renovating my house for the last few months so when fully complete ill post up some pics.

Also just bought a Kenko 1.4x which The advert said 5-8 days delivery but all feedback suggests very quick delivery... Hoping that it arrives by the weekend. I'm a photographer on a budget by the way ;)

I'm not as think as you confused I am..

Last time I went on my bike I hated it, had so much stuff to carry around as have no top box etc.

I love the little plates they give for for your side stand, keep it in my jacket pocket at all times as can come in handy

What bike d you ride?

Thanks David, I would say it was dark and overcast with snow. But I could have fixed it so no excuses

You got some great drag strip photos there.

So glad the racing season is starting at last.

Great shots everyone.

I have every intention of getting down to some of the sprint/club days at Goodwood this year. Some good "fenceless" shooting points and cheap/free entry.

Best bit about going in the car is parking on the southbank as have a base to go back to and somewhere to store the carmera gear.

Ride a Kawasaki ZX10r on the road and have a Suzuki GSXR 750 track bike. Doing brands on the 29th April so going to try and pick up some tips lol.

Hi David

I went in April 2011 and the wolf in my post above was taken there and looking at the EXIF every shot I took was with the 100-400mm with a goodly number at the max 400mm.

As for somewhere/something to do nearby...........I keep seeing brown sign for a Nature Park/Reserve in the Theale area when I visit a customer in Theale, just cannot recall the name??? Other than that not sure?

HTH :)

Really sorry - I thought I had replied to this one. Thank you for that, I guess Cory will be taking my 70-200 then.

.DAVID.
