I'm getting worried a young photographer keeps asking me for advice and I'm not really sure I'm qualified.

Lovely! The little cutie must've been really close.

Very close. A bit jumpy but let us walk right underneath him (very slowly).

Couple more from yesterday morning. My daughter was holding the dogs back so I was able to get close(ish) again before this one spooked and flew off. Much better light as well.

@ Andy ~ stonking sets of Kestrel images especially the second set with the blue sky. All three great but the last with the eye contact is that bit special.

@ Lee ~ safe journey to the flatlands and have fun with the flexible friend in WEX

@ Andy S ~ nice to see some 2013 motorsports, nice panning to boot.

@ David ~ not something I have seen too often on the forum, especially the crash.....at speeds those guys go it does look dramatic!

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

To say it was a little 'chilly' at Santa Pod on Saturday would have been an understatement! Cory took me along for my birthday and even with the cold and the brief respites waiting for the snow flurries to pass it was a superb day, main highlight by a mile was seeing 2 jet cars go head to head - 1st time in over ten years that this has happened (in the UK at least) and the sound and 'feel' was out of this world.
Just took the 70-200 with the 1.4 extender and stood on the bank near the finish gantry to avoid the crowds and get some head on'ish shots. Drag racing in the snow is a new one on me lol.

#1 - 1/160, f/7.1, iso 100, 280mm
QUOTED IMAGE

above - nothing wrong with the mkiii 1.4 extender on the 70-200 2.8 mkii

Full freezing / shakey set can be found HERE (external link)

Thanks for looking, feel free to rip apart as you see fit

.DAVID.

Some very pretty cars, I always cringe when you see them crash

PS: before I stick it in the ads section I thought I would give you guys 'first dibbs' (sorry if it's not the done thing to do - mods please remove if required)

I am looking at selling my 'as new' 300mm 2.8 mkii which I bought at the end of the year with my redundancy, not really my thing (like my zooms too much) comes with everything it came with and not a mark on it - you could sell it as new it's that good - looking around £4,500 ono includes receipt and big brown packing box as well - will HAVE to be a meet and handover as there is no way on this planet I would post it.

.DAVID.

We do it all the time, would love to buy it but the camera piggy bank is very empty

I imagine he's probably trying to get some ideas based on your experience as you've been doing photography for a while. After all, you never know until you ask. :)

If you're feeling unsure about something then there's always the good old stand by phrases:

"Well, in my opinion ..."
"Hmm, I'm not sure about that. But I think I know who to ask."

They always seem to go down better, in a work scenario, than "I don't know". ;)

yes. I don't quite know what we'll do if the forecast is dreadful, I'll have to email Will from AP about it and see what he thinks.

this was everyone who said they were coming.

Sunday April 7th. Late afternoon into the evening.

Clare, Penel, Wayne, Matt, Lee, Andy, Andy, Jo, Mark, possibly Dom, possibly Madseavets Steve.

Areas suggested are Covent Garden / Leicester Square / Chinatown / Trafalgar Square / The Mall.

Hi folks,
sorry am not around much atm, have a very very poorly dog yet again.
Is everyone still ok for Sunday - I saw Matt say he couldn't make it. I will need to make contact with Will from AP in the next couple of days just to say where / waht time etc - as he was hoping to join us.
there is a possibility I may not make it, depending on how the next few days go with Barley. We may not have him by Sunday things are that bad :( and you all know how I feel about my dogs :(

On a brighter note, I took q a nice shot of an adder yesterday. Managed to get the tongue out shot!

He's also the chap that said I was his 13th favourite/influential photographer I do suspect a bit of hero worship :)

I already use all the old cliches like that ;) The most disturbing bit is that he does call himself a " professional photographer " and is always touting for business on facebook but one of the things he keeps asking me about s cheep flash triggers I tell him which ones I use but he is still to buy some and relies on on camera flash using the bounce card. I do wonder why ask advice if you don't take it?

I hope Barley gets better soon Penel, unfortunately I won't be able to make sunday now I hope everyone who does attend has a good time and take lots of photos to share :)

I've had an interesting afternoon, and I'm sure there must be a fetish for this, but I've been shooting a nude young lady covered in chocolate buttons and saturday I shooting her while pole dancing. Am I getting a reputation for certain types of photography? I want to do more landscapes but always seem to shooting other things.

so Sunday the list is now as follows:

Clare, Penel, Wayne, Lee, Andy, Andy, Jo, Mark, possibly Madseavets Steve.

Areas suggested are Covent Garden / Leicester Square / Chinatown / Trafalgar Square / The Mall.

could those of you who see this please confirm you're still coming - if the weather is good I think it'll be a great afternoon/evening. The forecast so far looks ok.
