Hey guys, hope all is well. After a couple of days in York, we're now in lochcarron. No pics yet as there's no internet here. Going over the pass to Applecross, then Skye the day after. Driven through some truly fantastic scenery.

Welcome back Adrian~ hopefully a nice break with good weather. Lovely images of the fledgling Greenfinch and as for the cats were these taken on holiday? Really like the first one of 2(?) of the litter mates feeding and the white one being adventurous with the shrubbery

hate to put a downer on this, but that doesnt look like a fledgling to me. Its too colourful and there is no yellow at the edge of the beak, so this tells me that this poor finch is unwell - it looks classic to the horrible virus trichomonosis (spelling wrong I think lol). Its a horrible disease - eyes and beak are messy, they have difficulty eating and eventually die.

There is nothing you can do for it unfortunately and most finches can pick this up as can sparrows.

Ok then so as its quiet and couple of snaps from me - snaps because I took them with my G12 quickly so they are 'iffey' pics lol.

Anyway, our new additon to the household who I got just over 2 weeks ago from Cats Protection is Maisie. Some may remember that I lost my dear 20 year old cat at the end of Feb and the house was just so empty without a feline prescence - so, introducing Maisie, a 4 year old who was bereaved and had a slightly strange living arrangement with a cat upstairs and she lived downstairs because they didnt get on, so Maisie has taken a while to settle in as she was pretty scared and on the defensive a fair bit during her first few days in our house. She is coming along in leaps and bounds now. She seems to quite like her photo being taken so hopefully I can get some proper shots in a while.

Looks she is settling in well and getting to used to stairs if she was not allowed on them

Green with envy, that is the most gorgeous part of Scotland. If you havent already, try and drive via Upper Loch Torriden (you can see Lower Loch Torriden from the top there too) - the view is out of this world.

Once you have done on Sky, if you head back towards Loch Duich, check the map and ask where Sheena's Tea Hut is at Corron - the drive to it is wonderful and a warm welcome at Sheena's. Well worth the visit!

@ Adrian ~ oh crumbs re the Greenfinch. Looking back as Linda says I did wonder why there was no obvious sign of the yellow gape when I posted thinking it was a fledgling.

Morning folks. Some great shots posted over the last few days - love the cat and kittens in Crete Adrian. Welcome to Maisy - I love tortie cats, although they do have a reputation for being naughty!
Dom I much prefer your 2nd edits, much better.
As for the Kingfisher shots, they're stunning all of them. Is Schofield still in the corner?
At last the sun has appeared in Norfolk the last couple of days have been rather dull. Still managed a spot of photography though. Went to Hickling Broad yesterday afternoon for a wander and the highlight was hearing (not seeing!) a Bittern. Amazing noise and it was really close but we waited for ages and it didn't appear.
Little Egrets appeared though, soooo elegant.
