Granted but once an aircraft carrier always an aircraft carrier
Just a matter of "fixed wing" or "rotary winged" aircraft.
I went aboard HMS Illustrious once, many years ago, when she was moored up at Greenwich. That was somewhere between 1986 - 1992, when the Old Royal Naval College wasn't "Old" yet.
They were setting up a marquee on the flight deck, for some function or other, and had a harrier sat on the ski jump. I was part of a group of civilian college staff invited to come aboard for a visit.
