Penelope - that last 'high five' shot is superb!

Posted in the 5D forum as well (sorry)

Quite a manic day with a 4am start to get there for the first of the qualifying - Do like it on the Saturday where it's not manic busy. Thought I had best try the 5D mk3 out on bikes, not too bad overall. All handheld, spectator side

#1 - 1/500, f/4, iso 100, 300mm 2.8 mk2

Look good David, but I've been disappointed with the 5D3 for racing, I dont think its as good as they claim. I prefer the 7D.

Know what you mean Andy - took me 3/4 of the day of 'playing' to get to the point where I didn't want to throw a tantrum and go and sit in the car lol. still keeping the 1D mk4 as my main racing camera, just thought I had better try out the 5D just in case I needed it in a hurry.

On a separate note - just had a mail through saying one of my photo's from the wolf conservation trust has been selected for the 2014 calender. . . . me - chuffed. . . . yep

This one I believe

Well done on the wolf photo.
I have spent time comparing results from the 5D3 to the 7D, and in most cases the 7D works as well and in some cases better, so why did I buy a 5D3?

Simple - quality, colour, clarity and outstanding quality when cropped within an inch of it's life.

Thanks David, much appreciated. And thanks for the 500px support too from you guys.

David - the panning shot you posted is great. I think Richard (Swaffield) was looking for a 300 2.8? perhaps pm him in case he misses your post?

@ Kay ~ +1 with Penel, Isabelle looks very cute and talk about 'the camera loving her'. Just do not bore her too much, only 10 images per day allowed :D

@ Penel & Adrian ~ thanks re bashed finger. As for hurting, the most pain I can recall in a very very long time was when the Doctor injected the local anaesthetic directly into the open wound. The second and third injections were progressively less acute! As for moaning about the injury ~ not me ;) What's done is done, just hope I get close to 100% movement back in the finger.......still cannot clench a fist yet??? :(

@ Lee ~ Happy Birthday to you (hum tune to self for full effect ;) )

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

@ Penel ~ 500px 'loved'. As I said on your first set of him 'hereabouts' he is a lovely looking dog and that he has gone to loving home is great.

NB and on a cruelty related note, did you hear about the Cleethorpes Beach donkeys being attacked in their pasture land..............and even having wet sand thrown into their faces whilst working carrying kids on the beach. What is the world coming to with the way some youths behave :grrrr: :(

I especially like this one, maybe a bit tight in the frame but super panning and control

I dont dispute the image quality and low light.
But you try focusing in on one rider then moving to another. AF mode 3, Canon state that it will instantly change focus. I have not seen this
