Afternoon all from a sunny Elveden. Quick question. Has anyone used a Kodak underwater disposable? I'm thinking of getting one tomorrow but did t want 27 throw away pics. In hindsight I could have rented an enclosure for the g10. Never Mind. I hope everyone is well.

Haha.. On closer inspection it would seem that the turbo has blown and sucked all the oil from the engine and burnt it off creating the mass of white smoke!

Will get it up on stands tomorrow and make a start on stripping it down!

Still not good news really Matt even a recon turbo is going to cost a fair bit, but less than getting a head gasket done.

I'm currently sitting on the side of the road after our car decided to throw loads of white smoke out the back and then tell me to STOP!!

Found some free wifi tho, bonus!!

That's not good news Matt. Let me know if I can help at all. What car is it? Is it deffinately the turbo?

I have found a remanufactured one on eBay for £310 delivered with £100 surcharge.. Need to get the old one off and check the part number first & check the warrenty situation with the replacement!

There was a large patch of oil from the exhaust when I stopped it so pretty sure it is the turbo that is shot, made a nose that sounded like the central shaft snapping!!

It's a 2005 VW Touran 1.9 TDi.

Just spotted this on a link in Twitter ...

Explore Kent Photographer (external link)

We are looking to recruit two TEMPORARY CANDIDATES to carry out a specific project for Explore Kent. We need to update and improve the information held on the Explore Kent website about country parks and open spaces in Kent.
Previous experience within a similar field is essential, local government experience would be desirable.

Turbo's are pretty tough things. It's usually the bearings that wipe and cause oil to pass. Be very careful about where you buy. I am a diesel fitter originally, and have fitted many a recon turbo that has soon failed. Buy from somewhere with some sort of comeback.

D'oh, should have borrowed my underwater housing for the G10 - it's a great bit of kit! Maybe next time :)

Yikes, sorry to hear about your car Matt, sounds v expensive.
Wayne - you'll be glad to hear my aircon is fixed. My little local garage had another look when the car was MOT'd and serviced recently, and worked out it was the relay switch  none in the UK of course, but it came from far far away in a few days and now it's fixed - grand total of £11!!!
I did another horse shoot last week.

that last shot is especially good Penel - you're not swapping dogs for horses permanently I hope?

Matt - that is a git about your holiday fund, hope that a Karmic balance is restored ASAP (maybe another wedding booking!)
