One Stupid Question: Official Portrait Photos, Heavy Flash Shadow Acceptable or Not ?

Hi All,

Just looking into my kid official portrait shoots, but I notice heavy flash shadow in there.

I'm wondering that is good enough or not?

I may skip the order as I got some shoots my self that day already.

personally would like it softer...but if the client is ok with it...

Its good enough for most people. Not to defend the work, but if these are taken on the stage during the event its very difficult to make them any better. To soften the light would require a big modifier on the stage, which blocks the view of the audience and is pretty intrusive. These are better than 90% of those captured by the average parent so there is a market for less than perfect images. They are what they are..

Mostly true, but he should have used a flash bracket for the verticals (or shot horizontal and cropped the sides off later).

Yea I've seen this from what I would consider very decent event photog looking at their shots overall. Otherwise I would agree. In a studio, bad, on a stage very difficult to controll.
