All,

So, I guess I should say this is to help a friend that is a Nikon guy (please be nice). He is trying to transfer images shot in RAW from his D7000 to his computer using an older version of CS (either 4 or 5). He connects straight from his camera via USB to transfer. JPEG's seem to work but the RAW files recieve and error about them being locked?? Any idea if this has to do with non-compatible RAW plugins or something? Im kinda confused on it...Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
James

Canon provide DPP free with every camera, but as I understand it Nikon do not offer any free software for RAW uploading. If I'm right, it means spending some cash on one of the third-party RAW converters.

Need to know exactly what version of CS and Adobe Camera Raw he is using to help. Updating ACR may be the answer depending or may need to convert to DNG.

Thanks guys. I'll check on the exact versions he has and see if there are any updates he could do. DNG may be the best option.

Use a card reader to avoid trouble with Raw files not being recognized as such by Windows. Or install the proper codec. https://www.microsoft.com …oad/details.aspx?id=26829 (external link)

D7000 is supported from ACR 6.3 on (external link), so if he's using PSCS4, he needs to go the DNG route.
