The game will last 7 Days and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.
Feel free to comment and/or ask questions at any time. This is a good competition for learning new methods, so let's make it a bit more dynamic. I will be judging edits, not comments. Feel free to comment on the original image as well.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before & After #434."

Game ends TUESDAY JULY 25th, 2012 at 5:00PM CST

Adding the raw file is not a requirement. If you win a comp. and would like to post just the jpg that is fine--not everyone shoots raw or uses more complex raw editing software.

I didnt want to upload a junk file to see if you could turn it around but I didnt want to upload a perfect file to make it too easy on you either so here is what I selected. Keep in mind that since Im a landscape shooter and I didnt upload a junk file, I would appreciate it if everyone would use the image for the purposes of this challenge ONLY.

Adjusted recovery in ACR and straightened, then duplicated BG in CS5 in Multiply mode twice, opacity reduced to 40% on second layer. New grey layer 50% in overlay and lightened rocks. Smart sharpened then selected border, put on own layer in multiply mode and bevel/emboss

Loaded in to Lightroom, adjusted temp and tint of water and dropped exposure, lowered exposure on the rocks in the foreground and raised exposure on the rocks in the water. Global adjustments for a slight bump in contrast, lowered blacks and raised whites slightly. Also added a graduated filter to lower exposure on the sky.

Mine looks cooked, but I got the mood I was looking for.

Lots of level adjustment, selection on the sky to darken it, and creative burning in all areas I felt needed it.

Dropped in a sunrise sky. Desaturate the water a bit. Add orange photo filter. Boost LAB color. Darken overall image. Selective sharpening.

NigeID wins your up. I love the edit. the only thing i was not crazy about was the border.

93ej2- nice edit but im kind of a sucker for contrast and saturation.

B-rice- loved the edit but had a green tint over the underexposed rocks

dawicka2- thats awesome and intresting.

M_six- this was my favorite edit out of all of them but had to much red in the rocks.

so NIGELD is up
