hi guys

first of all hello to every one im new here

i am a carp fisherman and i recently bought a canon 1100d for taking my pictures as i wanted good quality photos.

how ever i am looking for a lens to allow me to use the av mode so i can have the background blurred and the standard lens just doesnt cut it so i am after advise on this if at all possible

Well people will now ask budget obviously as this is the major factor in which of the Canon lens line up you can buy.

I will go cheap, 50mm 1.8, UK less than £100 if you look hard enough.

Also ask in the Lens forum, ppl in there 24/7 answer questions on lenses all the time.

50mm 1.8 is good...85mm 1.8 is another good contender.:)

As I think you know, the aperture controls depth of focus so a "fast" lens (low f number) controls this. Unfortunately, the lower the f number the more expensive. Lenses 3.5 or slower will not give good out of focus images. Also, the number of aperture blades (more the better) give better out of focus images. Also adds to the expense.
