HK, if you use Pbase, once you get the URL for the image (by going to the image you want to post and copying the URL from the address bar), you'll have to add "/original.jpg" at the end of your URL. Otherwise it wont work. The "Original" can be substituted for whichever image size you prefer "Large" , "Small".
One other thing that helps me..I add numbers in the window for each image I plan to add before I add them:

Just place the cursor beside the number prior to selecting "Insert Image" link.
FYI-I think Direct Linking is only available for if you are a paying Pbase member. (http://www.pbase.com/help/linking
