Engineering Photography Rates?

Hello,

I am considering starting a business photographing engineering projects, and possibly architectural and construction projects. I am not sure what my rates should be. The work will involve meeting with clients to discuss the projects, driving to the project sites, photographing the projects, photo corrections and creating discs with the best photos on them. I am not sure how to price this.

Not an easy question to answer. Where do you work? NYC? Podunk? It does make a difference. Who's your competition? What do they deliver & at what price? Can you compete with them in both areas?
Start by asking "What are you going to use them for", & "What's your budget for this project?" Then visit one of the legitimate stock agencies as if you were buying a photo. You'll learn all of the correct questions to ask regarding usage as well as the going rate in real world terms.
