The raising of a 5.6 million pound highway overpass.

With the much appreciated cooperation of Laila Haddad, Sr Public Information Officer of the I-595 Express Corridor Improvements Project, we where able to get a couple of plum positions to place cameras within the construction zone .

This video is from an HD camcorder locked upon the second to the South pylon and its output was compressed from six hours down to sixty minutes.

I had a second 1D MKII also setup with a 14mm for a wide angle shot and the output of that camera is still in post processing.

This is a description of the project from the FDOT/I595 Express.

“Construction crews plan to raise the flyover ramp from southbound University Drive to eastbound I-595 by 18 inches to accommodate the construction of additional travel lanes. No cars will be permitted to travel under the structure during this work (for approximately 24 hours). The following roadways will be closed from 11:30 p.m. Saturday, July 14 to 11:30 p.m. Sunday, July 15”

This is a shot of our work area which was setup in a South bound lane of University Drive, the trailer provides us with both up to 20 hours of power for the field equipment it also has a microwave and toaster oven within so everyone stays well fed. ;-)a
