After seeing YOB at Scion Rock Fest a few years back, they have been on my list to see again...and this year delivered in a big way. I've seen 'em four times in 2012, and ironically the only non-overseas set was the one I couldn't shoot (they opened for Tool and Tool's rules about cameras were comical in the highest order)...
as for their music, YOB is super heavy but not oppressive...off-stage, Mike, Aaron and Travis are really nice, positive people and that comes through their music, even though it'll make bridge pilings tremble. Definitely check 'em out if you can...they are based in Oregon but do tour a fair bit.
notes on this show...this was taken at the main stage of 013 (the primary building used for Roadburn, and also including the much smaller Green Room and Stage 01 rooms), which was a great place to hear and see bands as a punter, but for shooting it was difficult. the lighting was usually very good, but the stage was really high and for a lot of the bands, there was a solid row of stage monitors that made it another 18" higher. so unless performers got close to the stage edge, it was difficult even getting full instruments in the frame. There are a bunch of sets available for streaming
...check 'em out...this was an amazing festival.
