Thought this might help anyone to decide on whether to purchase the Canon 70-200f4L. Seems pretty good to me. (not the boring photo I hasten to add!).

100% crop from original unprocessed image. f4.5 1/500 ISO400 (Hoya Pro UV filter).Canon20D

Even more incentive. Resized to 800x633, slight USM (90, 0.3, 3).

1/1250, f/4, ISO-100, 200mm. Digital Rebel (300D).

Racketman, do you find that F4 is fast enough for the cloudy conditions we usually get here in the UK?

not really - you are going to get quite a few blurred due to camera shake in those conditions but the f2.8 is out of my price range £1300 v £475

how about the sigma 2.8? did you look at that as well?
i can't decide which one to get..the canon, because it's..well, and L lens..
the sigma because of it's 2.8 capability...and both are almost the same price
