Is it ok to post my videos here aswell?

I've made a few musicvideos for a local band, thought i should post them here and hear your opinion, unfortunally, for most of you, it's a Swedish band hence the swedish lyrics

The first one is in B/W and the song is about a fight happening on a funeral, so i decided that the singer would star as the guy waking up, hungover and decides to go to the funeral and beat the crap out of the others (the rest of the band) so you follow him from the apartment through town all the way to the confrontation.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4zGHLaM-yM (external link) 480p (sorry)

The second one (which i'm VERY proud of) is a song called *translated* "A sky that i hated" and in this video i decided for a girl who walks home real early in the morning (we started filming at 4 am) all busted up and crying, makeup all bad.. but what happend to her or how she ended up this way and why she is taking the horrible decision in the end.. you as the viewer will never know.
One thing to take notice of is that in the end she sings/says from the lyrics in the song.. and translated she says "this.. dies with me"..
This one is filmed in a bit bluish and low color tone.. almost B/W.

alternativ: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_cYnDPL0V0 (external link)
Or search on youtube for this: En himmel som jag hatade

Filmed, directed, edited and produced by me.

What do you guys think?

ps. for you movie freaks there is one scene in the "A sky that i hated" musicvideo that you guys know that i "stole" from the movie Gladiator :D

heads up*
I belive i posted this in the wrong forum so i made a new thread here, a moderator have been contacted to remove the other thread.

hey bent toe,
2 things
a) your 2nd video link results in an error code from youtube: "An error occurred during validation." So i couldn't see it.
b) okay... the first one...hhmmm.
* my sorry self can't speak anything other than english fluently... and because I couldn't understand the words, i tried to follow the story visually.
I didn't read your description at all (as a matter of habit) so that i would be able to get a personal view and come back and read your description later, and see if i got what you were givin'...
Anyway... well... the visual story was too slow (try turning off the audio and watching it). It was just watching an out of focus / in focus guy walking down the street for 3 minutes...
So i scanned the timeline till i saw something other than walking... that was about 4 1/2 mins into it... people fighting...then B&W turns to color... then credits.
thats what i got.

I did find the lighting to be engaging, and the camera work stood out as well executed in my book. I got the "movie" feeling. The character was entertaining to watch, and there was a bit of tension before the fight...very good. Though, when the fight started, to its end, the angles used gave away the fact the antogonist wasn't actually being hit...pulled me from disbelief a bit.

Okay, so over all, i found it an interesting 5 1/2 minutes, but found i gave it extra attention because it was from a fellow POTN artist doing their thing.

would love to see the 2nd one. post back if the link is fixed. Or maybe upload it "dropbox" or something and we can download if and comment back.

thanks for sharing it with us.

Thanks for the feedback.
The video automatically becomes less entertaining if you cant understand what they are singing about, and as a mute "movie" it will probably suck alot.. haha.
I tried to make it rugged, dirty and very handy cam feel.. i did manual focus and left auto exposure on, hence the white to black contrasts occuring all the time.

The "fight" scene was difficult to do, first of they are not actors but musicians, secondly a few of them are past 40 and are hard to direct in a movie fight.. it's all stiff limbs and slow old chaps (joking, i'm nearly 40 myself) so we tried and do the best of things.. the singer did do a jumping cheapshot at the beginning.. but thats about it.

I've edited the first post and added two more links.
Please check it out.. i belive your gonna think awhole lot different about the second one :)

excellent work here bent toe!

Of course, the visual narrative was what i followed.
So before reading your explanation what i got was:
something bad happened to a girl earlier (before 6:27) which she either thought to get revenge/attention from in order to hurt the guy / or the guy did something she couldn't imagine living with. In either case she took steps to solve the problem for herself. In either case, part 2 of the story is how will the guy react when he finds out after arising.

Adding your narrative to the story, it all came togther quite nicely.

I LOVED the cinematography technique/style - the usual 3 second edits kept the story moving along, and changing locations of walking added pace. Also, adding her actions in close ups interspersed aided the "connection" with the main character. By the time we get to the last scene i "felt" for her.
I really liked the blue tint... added a feeling of coldness / sadness..that matched with the main character's emotion.

While i couldn't understand the lyrics of the song playing, the musical pace and style really fit perfectly with the visual narrative. (It did so in the first one as well!)

1st video's slow pace made it a labor of respect to watch and found to be "pretty good" with hats off to the obvious hard work.
2nd video - editing and pace drew my attention, and i needed to know what was next throughout... Very strong presentation! I could watch it again without hesitation.

thanks for posting up! Hope others get a chance to view it as well. 5 minutes well spent.

Mike, thanks alot.. this means alot ot me.
The music/lyrics together with the video makes it even stronger because your mind can both hear and see whats going on, so i'm amazed how much you liked it without understanding a single word.

Lyrics to "a sky that i hated" is basically a girl that sees her loved one leave at the airport to fly away and never to be seen again, so the mucisvideo isent exactly about that but about loss and heartbreak and what some people decide to do (even if it's terrible).

I'm so glad that you really loved the cinematography.. a real boost in confidence for me, thank you once again.

I've been contacted by another band (sings in 'English) who have seen my previous videos and they would like me to make them one.. so in the near future i will post it here to hear your opinion.

And as mike said.. hope some of you other lurkers see my work aswell, means alot to me since i'm pretty new to video making stuff.

you've certainly got the eye, BT :) I'll be looking out for the next video. I love still photography, but have been a moving pictures die hard since about 17... LOVE, LOVE ,LOVE the visual narratives of Silent Films, and the powerful lighting of B&W films. Of course, i like modern cinematography as well... but its not the same for me. I was a little disappointed with "The Artist" because i just seemed like modern cinematography with the color removed. It didn't capture the essence of the 30-50' Hollywood lighting styles. so, i'd be glad to put an eye on your work and toss out my opinion... from the sounds of it, i'm not the only who appreciates your style :) Good luck on the next video.
