I am looking to rent a Canon 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS for 10days while on vacation. I found this place Lenserentals.com http://www.lensrentals.com/for-canon (external link) does anyone have any experience or with them or a rental company that is good. They want around $140 for 10ndays shipping both ways and insurance waiver I believe this is only $14.Any help would be Greatly appreciated.
Thanks
John

They do a great job. I've rented lenses from them a number of times with no problems.

I have had nothing but good experiences with them; great service. They seem to be the lens rental company of choice in the east, and there is another good one out west somewhere too.

Lens rentals: Rented a 70-200 2.8 from them for a volleyball tournament. When i got the lens, the glass jumped when focusing but still took the photo. I called them and told them it was usuable with IS, but when i went to the tournament the glass jumped even with IS. When i returned it, i explained that it did the same thing with IS. A few days later i received a email from them indicating that their techs replicated the issue, and they would refund all of my money. Good people.

I've rented from them on at least 50 occasions and never had anything but a positive experience. Their customer service is first rate. They have chat support during regular hours and they even have someone who is monitoring support emails after hours, I think until 9 or 10. Don't hesitate to use them. I used two or three services when I first started renting and none compared, been with lensrentals ever since.

It's a great lens and LensRentals is a great company.

Two words of caution re the lens (which I have borrowed from my brother on several occasions):

It's heavy. Take a good monopod with you.

It has a push pull type zooming mechanism. It's different. You will get used to it.
