I've thought about going to the 7D or the 50D... mainly for the MA capability. I could live without video, I would perfer the 7D because of it's features, however for now on a budget I would be OK with a 50D. My 85mm front focuses just a bit and would rather get a camera that can MA then send lenses in and such.

So I found a local guy selling his 50D and canon grip for 450. Not sure on shutter count and would take my laptop and check it out on eoscount.com before I buy but just wondering if thats a decent deal. Seems like this camera sells for 500 without the grip.

I personally don't think that $650 is that good of a deal. The 50D body sells all the time used for $500. Canon grip in my opinion is not better than the no-name versions. I would try to talk him down to about $575 at least.

About a month ago this is what I bought on CL locally for $600. 50D body, 28-135mm kit lens, Canon Grip, 2 batteries, 4 assorted CF cards, box & original contents, and a off-brand camera bag.

The seller originally asked $800 but that price included a flash (Canon 430EX ii) that was sold separately.

$650 is a fair deal for it, but I would try to bargain down to around six flat if I could, if I couldn't I would still take it at $650 though.

I got mine for $640 around a year ago, but it had under 6000 actuations which gave me a "sense of security".

Guys I took a look at the camera... somehow I screwed the price up it wasn't 600 it was for 450.

HOWEVER... the camera was a POS. very abused heavy scratches everywhere on both LCD's and brought my laptop and checked the shutter count....

PASS. appreciate the help guys.

cool!, That means mine is only 33% old....that's good!

btw, I had great sucess in polishing my 50D lcd covers both top and rear with mothers stainless steel polish.....the brand, not MY mothers polish ;) they came up absolutely scratch free, so use that to grab a bargain, then polish it back to new! There were no gouges, but there were a few good ones that I thought would be there forever.

but yeah 147K actuations is a fair amount, and I'd probably would have passed on it too!

Looks like you have a 60d now...why a 50d? I would save the money for L glass. But that's just my opinion for what its worth.

Read his post. He wants to MA without sending lenses back in. 50D body is better feeling IMO too.
