Up to a few days ago I had dropbox working well on my desktop but suddenly it stopped being able to connect.
I uninstalled it and now I can't install it again because apparently it thinks I'm connected to the internet via a proxy.

I know nothing about this and I didn't chage any settings so I thought it best to ask for help. When installing I get a Connection Error - If your computer connects to the Internet through a proxy server, please specify your setting here.

Then my options are " Reconnect Now " that does nothing and " Connection Options... " that opens a window with proxy settings. If I click auto-detect it gives the same error.

Is it possible that something changed the settings ? How do I check if I have a proxy or not and if yes, how do I turn it off ?

I already tried turning off the anti virus and created an exception on the firewall. Using Windows 7. Thanks !

Go to Internet Explorer, Internet Options, Connections tab, LAN settings button. Uncheck all of the boxes assuming you're on an always-on Internet connection like cable or DSL. I've seen malware change these settings and many other programs use these, even if you're not using Internet Explorer yourself.
