Which case for general kids stuff? I was using case 4 with 70-200mm f2.8 IS II and had some OOF when shooting my son coming towards me on his little bike.
Also had 4 surrounding points enabled.

I would hope that is not even close to necessary. Using AI SERVO, I can get consecutive perfectly focused shots of my dog running straight at me with a 60D and an 18-135. I have it set up for such activities by using Manual mode, f/8 or so, 1/500 or faster, and auto ISO. When the dog gets really close, the DOF get shallow enough to throw the last one or two OOF. I have also stood by the side of the highway and gotten similar results with cars coming at me at 60 mph. Surely the equipment you are using (5D3 + 70-200 II)is capable of getting the shots you are after.
