I recently posted an ad on Craigslist, selling prints and offering outdoor pet portraiture.

Within minutes it was flagged for removal. It was completely, 100% within the terms and conditions of Craigslist. So the only reason I can think of is that another photographer saw it and flagged it. So aggravating!!!

Has this happened to anyone else?

Did Craigslist remove it? If so you need to contact them, they should be able to review it and approve it, and they should have a log of who flagged it for removal and they can take proper action.

Did you pay to post the ad?

Normally with CL if you are offering a service for a fee you cannot post an ad for free as it will be flagged and removed, if you pay the $25 fee it will stay up.

It doesn't cost, but advertising a service for a fee does.

Since when, i have been advertising on craigslist for 3 years already not paid a penny,

this is more then likely what he said it is, people flagging his post to get rid of it,

The only people that have to pay to advertise are thos providing adult services (massage parlors ect..)

If for some reason you rub someone the wrong way and they have too much time on their hand, they will flag you like crazy.

You do not need a reason to flag someone either. Yes it has happened to me.

Maybe it's regional but here in South Florida we have to pay a $25 to offer services, now one can post a carefully worded ad for free but if it has a hint of a smell of commercialism poof it goes away.

Heck you can’t even put numeric phone numbers in the free ads down here they have to be spelled out like this, three zero five, one two three, four five six seven to get past the posting filters…

First off, it takes more than one person to flag off a listing. So I would suspect you may have posted it under the wrong heading, and again as others have mentioned, if it looks like a commerical listing, it may get flagged real quick. CL has instituted under each heading listings by dealer and listings by owner. If you listed it under owner, I suspect it got removed as it looks more like an income generation.

I listed it under creative services offered. I skimmed through the terms and conditions again and it complied, as far as I could see. I also read other ads for similar photographic services offered and its content was fairly similar. Also one person can report an ad multiple times from the same computer so it is entirely possible one person reported it over and over again. Either way, it was ridiculous, because right after my ad was removed, two new ads for pet portraiture by other photographers were posted.

Multiple flags by the same person are registered as such, unless hes proxying to specifically remove your posting.

Either way, this is craigslist, its pretty wild west... If you don't like CL dont work off it, its not really a great place to run a business from.

Yeah, I am not posting on CL any more. It was worth a shot, got a couple clients out of it, but I'm not relying on it for a main source of exposure lol

I posted on CL more than once, I guess I should have stated that. My most recent post was flagged within minutes.

It does not cost to post ads on Craigslist with the exception of a few categories, and those prices differ depending upon geographical area.

There are however rules about posting the same ad within too short a timeframe-that can get your post deleted.
