Hi.
I have the Canon PIXMA ip6000D printer and it's pretty decent. However, all my B&W prints come out with a purple tint - no matter what settings I use or how much I turn down (or off) the magenta. Using the Greyscale option makes no difference. Tried various brands of paper, some are better, some are worse, but nothing I do seems to be able to give me a truly neutral B&W print.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I have the pixma 6600D (got it last night), and I am having the same problem. I haven't had time to troubleshoot very much, but I'm hoping someone has wise words. I get a purpleish/blueish tint in every black and white print.

I've had best results with Canon's matte photo paper. Real nice blacks. I too had a purple hue when using glossy. What program are you prining from and how are you doing the conversion? Not sure if I can help though. My balcks are so much richer with that matte paper that I suspect they are using more black ink than the CMY equivalents. Maybe try choosing matte paper in the driver even if you are using gloss. I haven't experimented myself. You might also choosing relative colorimetric in the driver, if your program supports it. Just fishing.
