I am having a hard time with the 61point autofocus. If I am not photographing a moving subject why do I need to use it? What should I use for landscape pictures?

With a non-moving subject the benefit to the 5D3's AF layout is so you don't have to focus/recompose as much and maybe a bit with AF accuracy. With a landscape it's probably not needed at all since you can manual focus. In fact, if you're doing non-moving subjects as your primary subjects, you probably would be served just as well by a 5D2 and have that extra money in your pocket or spent on another lens...

^^^ great advice, but, the OP already has a 5D mark III. Do you want to suggest to him that he sell it- take a loss, and then get a 5D II ? Otherwise, why even bring it up ?

For landscapes, you will probably want to manually select a focus point, set an appropriate aperture, and take the picture. While you are at it, you might want to play around with HDR at the same time.
