This area is a photographer's dream, if you can stick around for the best kind of light. I was not able to but I did what I could with what I was presented with. The wind was so strong that I had to set the 2-second delay and hold the tripod legs with both hands while the shutter worked.

Great photo. I remember that spot for your second shot, or at least it looks a lot like the highway we drove just over a month ago.

I was there for 7 days in May and want to go back for 15 more. So much to see in just the southern half of the state.

That is Spotted Wolf Canyon, between Fremont Junction and Green River, on Interstate 70. Thanks all for the kind comments.

a few more from C'lands NP - I just wish the atmosphere had been a little better. There was a lot of dust in the air, and I was really hoping for clearer air. But, one does with what one is dealt, I suppose. This adventure really drove home the benefits (?) of being able to sit in one spot and just WAIT for the best time to shoot, instead of having to cram everything into a 45-minute stopover. Not complaining, just mildly jealous of those who can afford to do that. Maybe next time I go on vacation alone..:lol::lol:

Dead Horse Point was spectacular as well, but I had crappy light. The sky was very overcast. I waited around for about half an hour but it didn't improve. Pooh... One interesting thing we saw was a set for the Johnny Depp "Lone Ranger" movie. We saw the train and the tents way down at the valley floor. and could not figure out what they were all about, but that night in Moab we spoke to a pilot who did air tours and he enlightened us...

Only the locals can be there when everything is perfect. The rest of us take what we get. At least you had some nice clouds and sunny days, and made the most of it. Nice shots.
