One month to the official "Dream Cruise", so I thought I'd check out "The Shell" at 13-1/2 & Woodward Saturday night.

More Shell Station in Dream Cruise Tuesday 2011

It's not as if I thought people have stopped cruising Woodward, but I wasn't ready for this!

1. "The Shell" was packed. The good spots in the lot across the street were full, too.

2. This guy was looking for a place to park. Too late! He should have been there in the afternoon.

3. I tried to pick a spot where Duggan's would provide some color in the background. Sometimes a hole in the traffic allowed the shot I wanted...

4. ...& sometime I almost got all of it!

IMAGE: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/PhotosGuy/Pre-Dream%20Cruise%202012/Pre-Cuise_7-21-12_4653.jpg

5. Better, but I could do without the wagon in the background.

IMAGE: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/PhotosGuy/Pre-Dream%20Cruise%202012/Pre-Cuise_7-21-12_4671.jpg

6. The problem with Duggan's is all the poles around it. I kind of like this one of the rod but wish it was just a little later for nicer light & the headlights on.

7. One pole is in exactly the wrong spot in the Cobra shot here, but I got the full disc prop blur!

8. This background looked OK, too.

IMAGE: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/PhotosGuy/Pre-Dream%20Cruise%202012/Pre-Cuise_7-21-12_4788.jpg

9. My favorite shot of the night. I wish I'd used just a tiny bit faster shutter speed than 1/30 sec.

IMAGE: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/PhotosGuy/Pre-Dream%20Cruise%202012/Pre-Cuise_7-21-12_4764.jpg

10. I did manage to get one shot with two cars in it, & I hope to beat my record of 5-in-one this year.
I know! Lotsa' luck with that! LOL!

So if you Tri-county guys want to get some Cruise shots with the cars moving faster than 1-2mph, any Friday or Saturday from now on is the time to go.

Thanks. The Kick A$$ part is that I can hear them run as they go by! ;)

I wouldn't go that far, but thanks for the <bump> anyway! :D

I can hardly wait for the event..

I know you're from MI, but are you from anywhere in the area? If you are, I strongly suggest that you visit the Shell on a Friday or Saturday evening, or just drive down Woodward until you see a group of cars parked. The official Cruise has become such a parking lot that I didn't bother to go out on the Saturday of the event last year. And besides that, it rained, too. Later in August, almost any evening of the week will be better, too.

I'm glad that you liked them. Try some of your own?
