It's been a long, cold, wet spring and summer hasn't arrived in the Pacific NW yet so this guy seemed to be intent on sucking up all the light he could get...In a swampy section of Ridgefield NWR, Ridgefield, WA.

Great shot Dave, I was looking so intently if these are acutally two herons. Wait, is this a heron?


... does it really matter?i see with my eyes, i shoot with my fingers.

That's interesting, Dave, because our herons start doing this when it gets very hot and want/need to cool off. Never knew they could and do use it the other way around as well. Thanks for sharing.
