I am shooting a very intimate, small wedding for a long-time friend, it will be my first wedding as primary shooter. My lenses were stolen when my car was broken in to last month but the show must go on, and they can't find anyone else to book. I will be renting lenses for the occasion.

I would like to know which lenses the more experienced wedding photographers would recommend, the wedding is in less than two weeks and I will need to schedule my rental soon (talking in the next couple days). Need advice pronto please!!! Thanks in advance.

What camera body do you have? Any flashes? A backup body?

Sorry haha, I'm super tired and not thinking very clearly at the moment.

I have a T3i and still have the kit 18-55 since it wasn't in the car. My flashes were in the camera bag in the car so nothing but the body and kit lens, I will be buying the same flash I had before so I'm good in that respect.

I am trying to convince my sister-in-law to let me borrow her XTi as a back up, and her wide-angle lens.

I'd say the 24-70 & 70-200 f2.8's

Both those lenses get me through 80-90% of a wedding.

17-55 2.8
70-200 2.8
+ a fast prime for the evening reception.

- Grab a flash and at the very least use it on camera with bounce.

- Get a spare body by hook or crook.

Bare minimum, IMHO.

Given your crop body and possible crop backup, go with the 17-55 and a good flash (and a backup flash!). If you can add more, consider a 70-200 f/2.8 or 85 f/1.8 for portraits.

+1. This would be honestly the bare minimum I would opt for.

On a cropper any 17-xx f2.8 lens will do. I agree that the Canon 17-55 f2.8 IS is the best option.
Also agreed on the 70-200 f2.8 IS. The MKI version should do fine.
And yes, try to borrow that second body. If not rent a second body.
A flash of course.
Plenty of batteries and plenty of memory cards.
