With the ability to use your existing EF and EF-S lenses on this what seems to be a compact 650D, I'm wondering who has pre-ordered, who intends to wait and who is NOT going to buy one. I've personally pre-ordered for comical reasons of mating the camera with an 85L with the EF Adapter.

Barring a disaster (i.e. poor AF and or IQ) I'll definitely be buying.
Oh yeah, make sure you order a few extra batteries. 230 shots on one charge is pretty sub par nowadays...

Think new Canon lenses are overpriced? Lots (and lots) of data will set you free!

For $1000 with the kit lens (I am factoring the EF/S adapter in as well, which everyone would buy) it better not be a "so-so" camera. I was hoping it would look like a GX-1 and not a cheap ELPH. It has sparked my interest though I'd like to have a smaller camera (sell the 30D) and still have IQ.

I have had the NEX system since launch as it was great WHEN using the dedicated lenses.

Them came along their first mount adaptor which was ok but AF speed was dire! Then came their second which was ok but then just cost nearly as much as the body. By the time I was done, having it just made me realise that everything you could do with a DSLR was just easier doing on a DSLR.

Personally if I did go back down that route, it would have to be some sort of slim outfit overall and nothing more.

I voted No thanks. I am still learning what my 5DMII does. Maybe when the price comes down, I will rethink my decision.

I'm intrigued, I think that this is a great option for pocketing a camera that could also be used as a backup to a dslr or in occasions where bringing a dslr just isn't appropriate. My gut feeling is that the second generation will be a noticeable improvement. The FPS is low compared to the competition and by the looks of it the ergonomics of the nex line are a whole lot nicer. I would also like to believe that AF speed would be improved in a future generation. A big part of me wants to order now but I think that my best option would be to get better lenses for my SLR and wait until there is a mirrorless option that I can't pass up, this one is close though.

Thanks...but no thanks.

No EVF, no in-body image stabilization, no proven track record, no articulated screen...same price as the competition...

I'll stick with my V1. No EVF or the ability to add one is a deal breaker for me. Also seems a bit pricey compared to some of the competition.

no thanks

no matter how you cut it, mirrorless cameras are a poor platform. By platform, I mean how you hold it and everything that mounts to it. Sure, with a pancake lens it's nice, but put anything bigger and it starts to have issues on how you hold it. Mounting a EF or EF-S lens is a joke. Start to add a tele and a flash and see how you like to hold it. People complain about holding a XXXD body, how do you think this will be?

Honestly, there's no mirrorless system including Leica that I would buy into. No pentaprism viewfinder, poor ergonomics, composition issues, no longer "pocketable", and a host of inherent problems with the platform itself. By the time you add all the good stuff, you have a small DSLR, and still have inherent problems.

I was interested until I read this. That's horrible.

I might order a EOS-M body & Mount Adapter are better than buying a PowerShot G1X unit. EOS-M will murder PS G1X from customer market.

This camera is definitely for the masses more than the enthusiasts. Not optical - or even EVF - viewfinder makes it a deal breaker. It would have also been nice to have physical dials for the settings.

Why can't one of these companies may a rangefinder camera with manual dials for ISO, shutter speed, and aperture for less than $1,000 dollars? Yes, I am looking for a reasonably priced Leica - preferably one that accepts EF-S and EF lenses.

I already preordered this EOS-M.. to me using my EF and EF-s lenses and the aps-c sensor were the key features in a small size that convinced me from the beginning!. carrying my DSLR and all my glass has become dangerous to me and I wasn't willing to spend money in a similar size powershot G1X P&S. I don't care if no EVF or have not enough buttons and dials, my back will thank me in the future by not carrying a heavy bag full of stuff.
