I'm certainly interested and kinda wished I had one now for my hiking trip next week. Sure would lighten the backpack load.

With the ability to use your existing EF and EF-S lenses on this what seems to be a compact 650D, I'm wondering who has pre-ordered, who intends to wait and who is NOT going to buy one. I've personally pre-ordered for comical reasons of mating the camera with an 85L with the EF Adapter.

I'd like to see if the focus will indeed work with the 85L since it requires power to even manually focus.

I dont see the point in a mirrorless with ef lenses or the whole concept. Yes you can pack lighter but by how much? In the end the only thing your saving space on is the body. You still have to carry lenses around and what not. For me the advantages of an EOS body far out weight the space issue.

No desire at all for this camera... I simply don't get them with small SLR options and much better lens options. Sure, you can get an adapter but why hassle? Get a Rebel with the 40 pancake and there is your small package. For less money I am sure as well.

As I would only ever use it once in a blue moon or so, maybe a gig or two a year, I think it would have to drop in price substantially to make me buy one. For an entry level camera thats missing a viewfinder, flash and ergonomics of a dslr and to charge around the same price anyway is a step too far IMO.

Im debating it since my girlfriend wants a lighter/smaller camera. I think ill wait for Lensrentals to have it so I can rent it before I buy...

I'm sure the mkii will come out in one year after Canon has had a chance to listen to the praise and gripes.
I wish it had a swivel screen and was more Gseries like, but I see what market Canon is shooting for.

I'd really like a small camera with IQ close to a DSLR, but...

- It would need a decent OVF or EVF
- It would need proper knobs and switches, not a touch-screen
- It would need full manual override
- It wold need a popup flash (fill-in only of course) - carting a separate flash obviates the point

Seems the EOS M fails on all these, so it's not on my shopping list. Sorry Canon.

I already preordered this EOS-M.. to me using my EF and EF-s lenses and the aps-c sensor were the key features in a small size that convinced me from the beginning!. carrying my DSLR and all my glass has become dangerous to me and I wasn't willing to spend money in a similar size powershot G1X P&S. I don't care if no EVF or have not enough buttons and dials, my back will thank me in the future by not carrying a heavy bag full of stuff.

Dude, Congrats! I wanted to order it, but unnecessary. Canon M will hits My local Camera Shop 's shelf on OCT without doubt. Because it's an authorized Canon seller. ;)

Live view only ... who are they trying to compete with i-phone users ?
When i heard rumours of this thing I was thinking it was going to have a sexy Leica type design.
And was curious about the design and spec etc...
Instead its like a bar of soap with a lens glued onto it and no viewfinder.

I am not even remotely interested... in fact if my gf wanted one,
I would probably do my best to talk her into buying a 7d or 5d markII instead.

I was interested until I read this. That's horrible.

Battery life is certainly a disappointment with the EOS-M but think about the way you would use this camera. Seriously, on an average day at a casual event (where you don't need/want your 5D2 or 5D3), are you really going to be taking more than 230 photos of your family and friends? Or, more importantly, are you really going to have more than 230 keepers per day? Recharge at night.

The battery shots per charge number is a joke to me. Also the lack of buttons and dials turns me off. I am still waiting for the review and hoping it will be a very positive one especially when it comes to the AF speed/accuracy as well as the out of camera jpeg IQ /color/AWB. If so, it might have a chance.
