Pardon for getting out of topic, but which of the two yields better IQ in your experience? Reason I'm asking is I'm in the market for wide zoom lens at the moment (less than $1k budget), and cant decide between 17-40, 24-105, and tamron 28-75.

This is just from the two copies I own, but I love the IQ that I get from my 17-40 over the 24-105. Don't get me wrong, both lenses take great images. I just prefer what I get out of the 17-40 more. Just my $.02.

I couldn't live without them I also suggest adding a hi-tech .9 reverse grad. Works wonders for sunrises/sunsets.
