Hi KILLERCLOWN;

"Have you tried using micro adjustments to eliminate front/back focus? I had similar problems with my 50 1.2....."

Thanks for your reply, I'm really not sure how to micro adjust as yet (??), I must read the manual. Question is? do you need to micro adjust for each individual Canon EF lens....??

Regards;
peter

Yes you do. The 5D MKII allows you to store the settings for up to 20 lenses. There is software from Reikan Software that will help you do that. It's called Focal

I just bought a canon 5d2, and only taken a few shots.
I am still thinking about what would be the best all around lens I should buy for it.
Maybe a 135 IS L

I would probably go for a 50mm, but thats just me. I like to be fairly close. Maybe meet in the middle? I have heard great things about the 85mm L.
I recently got the 35mm(like a few days ago) I love it so far, but you do have to be close to fill the frame!

The problem with needing an all around lens...primes IMO don't work for that. A mid range zoom to be is the best all around lens. that said...I love my primes...trying to decide between a 24L and a 35L..might rent both and see what I like best.

I have heard good things about the 17-40L for me I think it will be my next, but it still a close lens. I just love primes, so sharp and fast!

I couldnt decide, I had seen stunning shots from both! Played around with them in the shop, decided as it was my first (of many for sure) L lens that the 24L was just too wide for my needs. Both beautiful bits of glass.

I have the 17-40L, I use it a lot on my jobsites. Walking around it is great on the 7D, but not as much on the 5DII if I was walking around a town or city. If I am carrying the 5DII I go to my 24-70L.

the 24L would just be to have it, portraits and stuff like that...I am going to rent one for a gig in two weeks, and see if I like it.
