Ok, I need your HELP PLEASE;

This is really annoying me now, mostly every shot with my newly acquired EOS 5D Mk2 body is SOFT, I shot this image below on a tripod, 50 iso, mirror lock-up, used a recently repaired EF 24-105mm f/4 L which was repaired at Canon UK, a fit bill of health etc. My other Canon lenses EF 50mm f/1.8 MkII and EF 17-40mm f/4 L are the same, soft.

This was shot at f/6.3 at 105mm length. This image is straight out of the camera with nothing done to it whatsoever. I used a cable release and manual focus, whenever I got the 5D/2 body about two weeks ago I did the eyepiece dioptre adjustment etc.
My last EOS 5D Mk1 body which I owned for 18 months was 'pin-sharp' focus compared to this 5D Mk2 body!!!!

What's going on......?????

Help before I sell my 5D Mk2 body.

Why are you shooting at ISO 50?

Go back to 100 and see what that is like, I remember reading that there is a large DR change in highlights.
Worth a try, also is there a possibility that you are moving the focus at all after setting it, try using the AF and see if the results vary.

No point in talking about if its back focusing or needing micro adjusting as he said he manually focused.

Amazing rob!

Mac visual you know you don't have a micro adjust problem as you manually focused, what the problem is though I really don't know. Can you return the 5D2?

"Can you return the 5D2"?

No sorry, I bought the 5D Mk2 body used/second hand as a private sale. I've owned this less than 2 weeks now, I've emailed the chap I bought it from to state I'm worried now.

Is it best to re-set all camera settings and start fresh again I wonder ?

You might be best sending to a Canon approved shop to be checked. There is one in Glasgow
