A photo that reminded me how good the 5D mk ii can be, especially given good light. The detail in the face is pretty good in the original file.

I still ponder buying one again,

Every time I try to put mine up for sale, I back down. I know I should go through with it, but so far I haven't been able to.

About 5 years ago, I bought two 5D mk ii from different professional photographers who had extra bodies. Each one had close to 5000 shots taken and each one cost $900. I sold them just over two years ago with about 10,000 to 13,000 shots per body and got the 5DS and 5D Mk iii. Sold the mk iii last autumn for the EOS R.

But I'm keeping an eye out to see if any 5D mk ii with less than 40,000 shots go for sale in the $400 to $600 range. Still worth that, and more.

This week I culled about 4000 older photos, but saving a few favorites and samples from the past. This one is from 2013, maybe a dozen shoots into starting to figure out how to do portraits. Bright sunny day. She's under a weeping willow. I was using a single umbrella that day, but I think this was just available light.

I have a 5d MK II coming with a 50mm f/1.8 ii lens & I have a 50mm f/1:1.4 (from my 60D). I am wanting a telephoto & read that the EF24-105 F/4 L IS USM is the go to Lens. Just wanting to confirm this should be my next purchase before I get one.
Thanks in advance

The 24-105 is a great walk around lens, it's a great utility lens. But its hardly a telephoto lens. I suppose technically it is, but it's only going to slightly longer than 50 was on your 60D. What are you wanting this telephoto lens to achieve?

It will be similar in function. I don't have any experience with the 18-135. The 24-105 will be shorter on the long end on the full frame than your lens on the crop body however.

Thanks! that is what I am looking for. I understand that they are different & that is why I bought the 5d ii. I will be mostly shooting landscape & events like vintage trailers or cars. No studio settings for me & hopefully natural light.
