I was taking some sunset type shots last night and didn't notice this problem in the skies until I got home. I was using a Marumi super dhg polariser with a hitech 0.9 gnd, problem occurs in all of the pics. Never had this before, is it caused by the polariser? The sun was setting to the right.

600D, Tamron 17-50mm @ 17mm, f/8, 1.3secs, Iso 100, Av mode.

Any tips on pp'ing it out or should I just bin the shots I took? I've only cropped this very slightly to level the horizon.

Thanks in advance.

How far to the right? Polarizers work best when the sun is 90 degrees from where the camera is pointed. Maybe using it in conjunction with the gnd is the problem.

I would say around 35-40 degrees to the right. I'm sure I've seen this problem with uwa lenses such as the 10-20mm but not my tammy before @17mm.

Lovely scene, though.

Thanks, but yeah, that's the killer, I have a few good shots from all round there last night and 90% exhibit this in the sky, maybe I'll have to post this in the post processing section afterwards to see if it's recoverable

Shouldn't be too hard to recover that in post.

Thanks for the replies so far, so is this caused by my cpl?

Well so far I've tried dodging the dark out on a new layer and reducing the opacity, no good, tried burning the lighter sky down on a layer and reducing the opacity but just can't seem to get it right.

I'll post this over in the post processing forum as well for some pp tips

Looks like a perfect circle (or part of one, at least). Try a brightness/contrast layer masked in with a circular gradient?
