Here is my first attempt at panning of a moving object. Good thing for me I have a buddy with a sweet car and willing to "model". I probably took 120 pictures, had 15 keepers but this one is the best.

That's a nice shot. Looks like you have some shadow on the body, though. See the links in my Sig, and...

Frank,

You are right about the shadow in the door - it was a tree. Most of the pictures I took were when the car was in the direct sun without shadows but the clearest shot (panned the best) was this one with shadow in the door. Wanted to get the look of moving but panning is an art. Thanks for all your links in your sig. line.

Here is probably the 2nd best shot.

Here is probably the 2nd best shot.

Those were at 1/40 & 1/30 sec. From: First shoot with moving cars need advice.
"Start at 1/200 sec & work your way down to 1/30 & see how steady you are." I'm guessing that 1/80 might have been about right for that speed at that place. ;)

I started at 1/200 and worked my way down to 1/25. Until I got to about 1/80th you still have the spoke of the wheel still visible. Buth then again, I think he kept speeding things up.

Yes - that was shot with the 70-200 II

That does make it more difficult.
