One key factor I forgot about 7D

Plenty fast and every bit as reliable as the Sandisks as near as I can tell.

For most purposes it's an acceptable card with one annoying detail, when you try to format the card in the camera body it screws up the partition, for whatever reason it formats it as an 8GB card and wastes the rest of the space. I had to download a specific utility from Transcend to set the partition straight. If I format the card through the PC/card reader it works fine, but the 7D just can't format it natively.

The 400x version has no trouble in this regard.

Talley, I would stick to Sandisk if I were you. It may be a bit more expensive but it's worth it. I have had two Transcend go bad on me. Just my opinion!

An SD card will fit, just push harder...

8gb SanDisk Ultra cards are $21.99 at NewEgg. How big or fast of a card do you really need?

I have a 7D and use the 8 and 4gb Ultras. I hardly use it for video at all but the few times I have those cards have worked just fine.

This card should be perfectly fine. It is twice as fast as the one I use and has twice the capacity and neither seems to be a barrier with me with the card I'm using. If you spend a lot of time in high speed mode at 8fps with the shutter button mashed down you may want to spend a bit more, but otherwise there shouldn't be any issues at all with this card. If it fits your budget and your needs, buy it and quit worrying. For the vast majority of work, most cards will do.

+1 you only have to lose your pics once to regret going cheap.

Hah yea it does suck, I ran into a similar problem with my 5D.

I realized it used expensive ass CF cards, so I went the route of the CF-SD Adapter.
BAD IDEA. Constantly had file corruption problems and missing pictures.

Ended up getting a Sandisk Ultra 8gb. The new Ultras are 30MB/s max supposedly (mine doesnt seem to ever go that fast using my Transcend card reader...) and so they work fine for my 5D since its fairly slow.
For your 7D though, might as well bite the bullet and get a Extreme.

The Extreme IIIs linked earlier seem good.
I know they're rated at 30MB/s, same as the new Ultra cards, but my Ultra CF is definitely slower than my old Extreme III SD. Although that may have to do with the fact that one is CF and the other is SD. Dunno.

Never mind, the ones linked are the older 20MB/s Extreme III cards lol.

I routinely use up 8-12gb in a full day. or about 300 pics. I really don't want the hasself of HAVING to change cards. 16gb is fine and lasts all day but a few times like air show I maxed it out and had to rely on my 8gb backup.

this tells me a 32gb would be a rare day that I would ever max it out (unless I do more video)

Like others state, it only takes once for you to start to go with smaller and higher quantity cards. Having a couple in your pocket, and swapping them out doesn't take that long and if one of the cards flake out on you, you still have the images on the other cards, it wouldn't be a total loss.

Kinda like people that don't wear safety equipment, there will be a time when they wish they had, they just haven't reached that point yet.

It sounds like you would only have to change cards at most twice in a day, if you had 3 8GB cards, which adds up to about 30 seconds.

Or have an 8Gb Sandisk Ultra II go faulty on you .. It can happen to any card (altho I haven't had a Lexar fail yet)
