Hi.

My son has a Canon T3 and suddenly, the battery will no longer lock into place (in the battery compartment)... the small clip within the battery compartment will not lock the battery into place and as such, the door will not close.

If the optional battery grip is used, everything is good to go, but there are times (when using a flash bracket), he needs to use the camera without the grip. Alas, no can do, because the battery will not lock into place.

I would appreciate it if anyone would have a suggestion as how to rectify this problem.

Thanks very much for your time and effort.

I'm not familiar with the T3 battery compartment but on a 60D I think that lock simply applies pressure on the battery to insure proper contact. I would try something as a "spacer" between the door and the battery to see if you can accomplish the same thing. Start with something thin, maybe a peice of paper folded a few times, then work up in thickness as needed. Get too thich and the hinge on the door will fail in time.

.. .

Is it a small spring loaded swiveling piece of white plastic that springs out and traps the battery in place (as per my XSi) ?
Has the battery swollen up stopping it going all the way down into the compartment ?

My Gear List :p

If the battery latch is actually broken the only other thing I can think of would be to stick some foam or folded up cardboard in the compartment and have the battery door hold everything in place.

Hi.

Appreciate the prompt replies.

A folded piece of paper between the battery and the compartment wall (the wall opposite that of the clip which holds down the battery) did the trick nicely. Now, the battery locks into place allowing for the door to close.

Thanks to all.
