Here's what I have been into these days...the 16x9 crop. Kinda wide angle like...This way you keep the power of the rock and moon but adhere just a tad to the rule of thirds with the sky to land ratio. But again....

First, nice shot.

Second, I too have been editing my photos down to 16x9. Every so often, I like to load several of my photos on to a flash drive, which I then plug into My PS3. Via the PS, I display the photos in all their glory on my 52" flat screen...which is 16x9.

First, this was Buylongterm's shot that he was questioning the crop. He has "image edit okay" so I just cropped it for fun. It is his outstanding shot.

Second, I really love this aspect ratio. When I have time, I would really like to start printing and framing some of my shots that are cropped in different aspect ratios. I think it adds to variety. I just wonder if if is hard to find a good selection of 16:9 frames?

Thats my experience so far. I find something in the right size, but the frame design is not what I like. Ive been told that if I get into making my own frames, its cheaper than buying frames at retail over time. Definitely a lot cheaper than having custom frames made!

Ah, I see. When I come to these threads that are pages and pages long. I always start at the last page, and go back towards the 1st. I do this because some of these threads have been round for a long time, and lots of the original photos posted, are no longer there. Just empty Flickr/Photobucket...etc. boxes saying that a picture used to be there. When I came across that photo, it appeared as though it was your post. But, anyway.....

16x9 is becoming the new standard I think. Our TV's, laptops, tablets, phones....all mediums we view our work on, are almost always 16x9 with a few slight varainces. People are getting very used to viewing photos in that aspect ratio. Maybe it time to buy shares in a framing company that produces 16x9 frames? ;)
