I brought newly acquired 70-200 2.8L lens but it couldn't focus on any thing except brightly lighted area. I understand that it needs some lighting but what about the Mark III's high ISO? Am I supposed to use manual focus when it's dark? Last time I used my original 5D at a bar, I don't remember having problems using AF. Am I supposed to set up something differently? Anythoughts? Keeping you in my view.

I find myself shooting at 6400iso with the mkIII without giving it a second thought. I was shooting in all sorts of poorly lit areas today at the zoo and didn't have any troubles. The pics were snapshotty and boring (which is why I didn't post them) but technically speaking they were fine. 5DmkIII | 17-40mm f/4L | 24-105mm f/4L IS | Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 non-OS w/2x telecon | 35mm f/2 | 40mm f/2.8 | 50mm f/1.8 | 100mm f/2 | ЮПИТЕР-37A |24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 | 580ex | 2x 550ex | bunch of other miscellaneous filters and stuff

What lens did you use though? Thanks anyhow. Keep in mind, as amazing as the AF is, the system needs a bit of contrast to function properly in low light conditions. You really can't try and focus on a dull flat dark surface and get good AF reaction. Some sort of contrast is needed for good AF results in low light. - Ken

No matter how good it is, it will need a bit of contrast to lock on. It's not going to lock on without it. http://emjfotografi.com/

Size of my files is anything from 100 to 300 KB. I just paste the urls into the dialog window via the <Insert image> tool. It works fine and they display at full size without degredation of IQ. In fact, of the various forums I post images to, this is the best for no-nonsense display. Col Interesting. I'll have to give that a try. Is the interweb the same thing as the internet? the site
