Camera is set to file numbering continuous.
Copyright info and file numering info has been changed from factory preset.

A day or two ago I stop with file # 695.
Today, I used a different card (formated in camera before using) and file numbering begins with 6696.

Not life or death, but I would really prefer this not be the case.
It would be nice to have the file numbers sequential.

No past issues with 5DII or MKIV in this manner, and this has me puzzled.
Camera is excellent in every other respect.

Same behavior on any other Canon, you should have formatted on the computer, as soon as you insert a card, the camera reads it. Formatting it in camera was too late, as you must have had another file on it. The good news is that you can reset back easily by resetting the file count on the camera, copy your 695 file onto the card and insert into the camera

I have never formatted a card on the computer, always in camera.
This card was clean when it went in as it was formatted in a MKIV, then reformatted in the 1DX before use. This is what confuses me.

I will try copying the 695 file and see if it resets.

Thanks for your reply. :)
