What I still can't figure out is whether I should have focused on her instead, or even tried to have everything in focus. Thoughts? Fuji X-T4, 18-55 and 55-200 zooms, Samyang 12

I think one general rule is if you have someone moving in the frame, it is better to position them so they are moving into the frame, versus out of it as you have.
