I've certainly can't get anything near these with my 300 f/4 and 7D, with or without a 1.4x. You must have been closer than I usually can get, I end up cropping so much the IQ isn't there. When I first looked at these I thought you must have been using a 500. Anyways, well done!

Thanks very much. I've been shooting these guys for a number of years and have learned a few things along the way.
Actually, the first two images were shot with my 1D MkIV and 300/2.8L IS + 2xTC III (600mm) and the remainder were shot with the same body and lens except with the 1.4xTC III (420mm). Both that body and lens crop very well.
