Just started having a problem with my eos 450D and wander if its worth fixing or should i sell and upgrade, am in the UK

The problem is it wont take photos on automatic with any lenses including the original lens.

It never took photos on automatic with the lenses i had with with my canon slr camera but always took photos on automatic with the original lens that came with the camera.

It takes photos on all lenses on manual

Thanks in advance

Sorry to hear. What seems to be the problem with it?

Can you be a little more specific?

sorry thought i was specific but here goes.
the original supplied lens that came with the camera used to work in automatic and manual however now it only works on manual setting.
When set to automatic it does not even click so no photos can be taken but if I change to manual all settings work.
The other lenses from our old SLR camera have always worked in manual settings as they do now but never worked on automatic but it does say that in the owners manual.
The supplied lens that came with the camera should work on manual and automatic settings.

Are you talking about Auto and Manual focus VS Manual mode ?

Its the automatic focus that wont work - ie I press the shutter button and nothing, when changed to manual focus i press the shutter button and it works fine.

Things i have done is clean the contacts where the lens attaches, charged the batteries, changed the batteries but still the same problem

Have you tried a different lens? Go to Jessops and ask them to try a lens, see if the same happens? Do you get any errors? Also check to see if you can change the aperture.
