Hello Everybody,

I am new to photography and recently bought a Canon t3i with the 18-55mm lens. Its a love/hate relationship with it and I just wish it was a little more sharper.I do full body photography and want a new lens and flash.

My mother use to work for sears in the early 80's and would get tons of free things after they tested them and conducted experiments. She also worked with the guy who invented the viewfinder lol.

So I remember her having an older camera years ago and we were talking about it today. It turns out she still has it and 3 of the lenses as well. She has the 50mm 1:2.0,85mm and 135mm lenses. The 135mm lens has never even been used or taken out of the box.All of the lenses are in amazing shape and she still has the Sears KS SR2000 camera.

I tried them on my canon and ofcourse non of them fit.I wanted to know is there a way these will work on my t3i with an adapter or are these worth any money so that I can get a flash or new lens.

I appreciate the help.
Thanks

Do a little googling and you might be able to find an adapter. Nice little find there!

Is it a pentax mount? I want to say that is what I am reading on the box of the 135. If so something like this should do the trick http://www.amazon.com …ords=pentax+to+ef+adapter (external link)

I would just sell them and buy a nifty fifty, with those you're going to be stuck with manual focus.
I struggle like hell when using my M42 lens indoors(outdoors it's better).

It says "pk" mount, so must be Pentax k-mount, it does look like bayonet mount from the pics. Yes you can get an adapter for those, look for Pentax k to Eos adapter. Focus will be tough, you could try live view, it's easier. Welcome to the world of alternative lenses :)

It is indeed a K mount system, manufactured in this case by Ricoh. I have the same 50mm lens, but in original Ricoh "Rikenon" branding - and original condition as it happens.

Ricoh was and still is excellent gear and worth doing some experimentation with. Why not put a couple of rolls of film through the camera and see if it's worth investing in lens adapters?

Thanks guys,
Yes,I actually just bought the adapter yesterday from Amazon.

Here is the link

My only concern is lack of knowledge with using other company lenses and adapters.I am scared they will get stuck or scratch my mirror or something.

I would have no problem selling the lenses, camera and the film if someone was interested on here.

My first thought was to buy the nifty fifty and then I found these lenses the next day in the closet lol.

You shouldnt have any issues with them scratching your sensor or anything like that. The main issue is that you will loose all functionality (i.e. autofocus, exif, etc) with them and thus you will have to do everything the old school way. Just experiment with it while you have the chance, worst case scenario is you are out $30 for the adapter and have to try and sell the old stuff or throw it back in the closet. Manual focus lenses can be quite fun if you can get used to them. I have been looking at getting a focus screen for my 20D so that I could pick up something like the Rokinon 24mm f/1.4 (which is full manual).

"Full-body"..... portrait? Tripod? If you have the time to manually focus, they could be a blast.

One thing to note with the "full-body" photography, 50mm on a crop body is far more of a "half-body" lens than a full-body. When I had mine it was usually for waist-up photographs, and I ultimately sold it because it was just too close for me. Since you have the 18-55, just set it ~50mm and see if it's a FL that you enjoy shooting with.

Fun project!

You will have to set aperture and focus manually. Don't plan on any fast shoots.

Have fun with those lenses. I have a boatload of old M42 mount lenses I use on my Canons.

ahahah my bad, I thought saw 1.2. 2.0 will still not be bad!

Sure as hell better than the kit lens at 3.5!

Yeah I cant wait to try them out.

It will definitely take some time to learn if everything is full manual and I have to set everything.Could be better but man time is money literally for shoots lol.

Whats the best new lenses for full body photography under $300?

Which of the lenses that I have now will be best?

Will the 230 flash from canon improve my pics?

I just looking for a super sharp lens.

Thanks
