On my next vacation instead of hauling my 2 DSLRs plus lenses, I am looking for a camera like the G12 in size. Doesn't have to be a Canon any make will do as long as it has the capability features such as: Manual focus, manual settings, RAW, AEB, focal length approx.: 17-200 mm. Is a camera like that or close to that exist?

You can find some nice cameras and good deals in the micro 4/3 world.

Canon doesn't make one with that zoom range that shoots RAW. You might consider a Nikon P7100 with a 28-200mm zoom range.

Canon g1x might be a good option but the widest focal length is 28mm.

I've been looking for a decent compact for the same reason... it was a toss up between the Fuji x10, Fuji x100,Sony RX100 and G1-X but I bought the Canon in the end.

I really really wanted the X100 but the G1-X seemed the most practical all rounder and as a Canon user I know it will be quick to get to grips with

That S100 looks pretty slick. I might get one of those myself. :)

2 cents worth...I replaced my G11/LX5 with a Sony NEX5. I don't find it convenient to carry this system. I keep going back and looking at:
* G12
* P7100 (but Nikon P&S's scare me after trying an S9100 several times....and giving up.)

your all-encompassing zoom range is quite a bit too wide compared to the P7100. It's ok at the long end of the range, but isn't anywhere near that wide.

I would love to find real examples of P7100 photos (jpgs and raw) to see whether the camera performs well enough.

fwiw I have a Sony NEX5 with 18-55/55-210 lenses, and I'm almost a neighbour!

the Lumix FZ150 got great reviews, I was surprised dpreview reviewed it.

Now there is the FZ200 and it has the same 25-600mm focal length - but now its all f/2.8... alllllll the way down the barrel... that is impressive.

of course it shoots raw, 12 fps, hotshoe, good ISO & clean sensor, yadda yadda, but the G12/s100 have the slightly larger sensor.

I think everyone might agree the G12 view finder just sucks... but its nice to have options and I came darn close to getting the FZ150... now FZ200

Canon g1x might be a good option but the widest focal length is 28mm.

The OP was probably referring to 17-200mm as it relates to his current DSLR. The G1x starts at 15.1mm which is about the same as 17mm on a 1.6 crop DSLR.

The problem is any camera with something like a 17-200mm focal range (27-320mm) is that it will either have a very small image sensor, or have a very large lens. The OP will have to decide what is more important: Size and Convenience or Image Quality
