I wonder how many others would like to see a camera like this, a modern digital camera that holds only the basics of photography so one has absolute control and learning from the basics.

The Perfect Camera?
Full frame sensor

True ISO 25, 50, 100, 200, 400, 800 & 1,000. No more!

No pop-up flash.

Manual mode only with Bulb. No Av, Tv, P, green box or sports action, flower, landscape modes. The dial simply has 3 options: On (Manual Mode), Bulb, Off.

Keep all EOS 7D metering modes.

Keep all EOS 7D focusing modes

Think Nikon FM2 or FM10 – but with Canon EOS digital enhancement.

I bet they sell a TON of these. What are your thoughts. do you think we can get a petition so Canon will make one? haha

I'd rather have an EOS-M.

Meh, waste of time. Why go backwards? Especially in ISO. Unless "professional's DSLR" is only for studios with flash or people shooting in great conditions.... And if you want "only the basics of photography and absolute control" why have the 7D metering and focusing modes?

Not for me either, I don't need low ISO levels for what I shoot. This camera would not be usable by me unless I wanted to spend thousands on fast long primes.

If you want all of this, just pop the dial into manual, tape it, keep your flash down, and don't use ISOs above 1000.

I agree on most of your features(or lack thereof).

I do find Av of use occasionally and would like ISO up to about 3200.

Would also like Eye Controled Focus Point selection back from the EOS 3.

I don't get the lower ISO request. Is this for slower shutter speeds and wider apertures in bright sunlight?

Yes, and the ability to keep your shutter speeds within normal sync speeds while using flash on a sunny day.

My perfect camera would be a full format copy of my old Olympus OM-1MD, except with M, Av and Tv exposure modes, similar AF capability as my D700 and the same metering modes as my D700. No smaller OM-D type camera with micro 4/3 and EFV, but a FF DSLR with one of the biggest, brightest viewfinders ever made :)

... and if it can take old OM system manual focus lenses without an adapter then even better.

Unfortunately Oly has chosen their path and my dream camera will never be made.

Are you frightened to shoot at high ISO?

No they wouldn't. Photojournalists for example wouldn't touch this camera with a barge pole.

5D Classic is more than enough professional camera, been using one for a couple years.

A true professional can make professional images on a $100 point and snap.

No thanks. I'd pass as well. Especially limited with that ISO

From a skill perspective yes, as composition, understanding of light etc. are as important as gear. But a true professional also understands that gear must be dependable and durable. This is why you dont see many real pros using rebels and YN flashes despite their ability to craft great images. I think most working pros would shy away from the camera proposed above because its intentionally limiting. Simplicity is fine, but not at the cost of options.

i've got a rebel backup :D same sensor as one of the xxD cameras....it's saved me a couple times, most recently when the mirror on my 5D went out.

backup certainly. But I doubt you would want to run it out there every day as your primary for the long haul.
