My own initial complaint (in the full size version) is the noise. It was shot at only ISO 400, but I read that if you underexpose and bring up the lighting in PP noise will become visible even w/ low ISO's. Is that Correct? I even used the Noise reduction in LR, up until the point to where I thought details were getting blurred. So next time for a Low-Key photo should I expose properly then reduce the lighting?

Always expose properly to begin with...

Very cool. I like the lighting although I think chauncey here is right. Your exposure is a tad dark. Perhaps 1/3 - 2/3 stop too fast. Good design & idea though!

Yes, especially in the dark areas which by definition, are already "underexposed".
Nothing was moving in that shot, so why not start with ISO 100?

I'd have shot RAW, slightly overexposed the bright highlights, & then reduced the exposure during RAW conversion. "Film" is cheap & this doesn't have to be rocket science, so I'd have taken a few shots at different exposures to see which one converted best before PP. Then in the future you'd have a guideline to go by.

Actually, I kind of like it with the darker exposure - it gives a sort of menacing, industrial look to the image.

Some Canon stuff and a little bit of Yongnuo.

My first impression was a bowling alley. This doesn't do much for me as shot.

I think if you shot from a little higher perspective so you could add some more shapes to the mix (roundness of the hollow points) it may help make the shot a little more intersting. I like the lighting and idea though.

My thoughts exactly. I might have to try this one myself.

Edit-I'm digging the paint brush shot (DSC_2152-5) in your Flickr. That is a fantastic shot!!!

Cartridges

I prefer the term "rounds" over anything. I labeled this post bullets because it leaves little doubt, upon entering, what the subject matter of the photo you are going to view is. I didn't choose cartridges because it could meant anything from ammunition to printer toner to video games. The term "bullets" is a universally accepted term for firearm ammunition.

If you reload a bullet, by definition, is the part that is put on the case after the primer and powder have been added.

And cartridge would have provided some surprise for the viewer.

But it is your image so you get to call it what you want.

Titus - a fellow reloader?

I like the exposure as is. It gives the copper jacket a really nice tone.
