Alright, so my brother and his family were in town a few weeks ago (some of you probably saw my "photoshoot" with my nephew and niece post) and my mom wanted a "family picture" of all her grandkids. Well I didn't really have time to pre think this because the baby was tired, the kids were all scattered and we were at my grandma's house (their great-grandma). Everyone was just like "Okay everyone sit here quick! Karrie come take a picture!" and I was like THIS IS ALL WRONG. But I managed to at least get one of them all together. Using Paint Shop Pro 7 and Lightroom 3.6, I turned the snapshot full of background junk and into a decent photo for my mom of her grandkids! I gave her the 11x14 print of it yesterday and she loved it!

The before one is SOOC. (the picture on the shelf in the top left hand corner IS one of mine I took for Xavier's 1 month photoshoot though! I almost liked that being included.)

My sons are the two youngest, the baby and the one with the number on his shirt. I'm kind of disappointed that both of mine are looking off somewhere, I'm not sure who was standing to the left of me that they were looking at. Then my nephew Wyatt, on the far left, the picture directly before this he had his arm around Hannah, and it flowed SO much better! But he moved after I took one picture and everything happened so fast I didn't think to tell him to put it back, then when I tried to swap him out for his other pose, him and Hannah were positioned too differently for me to do a believable swap.

Regardless of the few things I KNOW are wrong and bother me, I'm actually very happy with the turn out!

i like the color shot best, b&w hardened some of the shadows on the wall that are distracting

That, wasn't really the point, :/ but, thanks for the input?

I'll post the "after" color picture when I can get on my computer, I'm on my phone right now. My mom just really likes black and white. She doesn't notice little things like dark shadows, exposure, etc etc. She probably would have liked the original with all the junk in the back just as much.

^ Thank you! I appreciate it!

Rick, here's a color version of the After photo. I don't particularly like it, I honestly prefer black and white, but I also can't seem to get the colors how I want them to look regardless of how much I tweak it so. Here you go.

I like the color version a bit more due to their eyes being lighter you know? The b&w definitely darkened some areas but I also know what you mean about b&w hiding shadows and fixing off-colors. For what you had to work with it's awesome :) And I like the braids on the girl

Yeah, I'm not very good with skin tones, especially when there are so many different ones in one photo. But thank you! I know what you mean about the dark eyes, I actually lightened them up some manually in the black and white but too much more and it looked really unnatural, like alien eyes, so I left it as is. :)

Wow, I'm still very very new to editing etc, but was that really hard to do? And you took out that random hat too!? Impressive. :) I do like the color one better, but understand how the shadows to the sides don't look so harsh when it's in b&w.

Thank you! To be honest it wasn't really hard, but it did take me a few hours of work the night I did it. This isn't the first thing I've edited so heavily though so I've had practice prior to this. :)

That hat was NOT my friend! I wish I'd noticed it was there before I took the pictures and released the kids. I don't know how I missed it!
