:) I did a portrait session with two friends today. In my opinion they picked a strange choice as their fav picture. It was taken at the end of the session as husband and wife shared a joke. Please offer your thoughts on the picture..

I absolutely love that photo...I think it captures the heart of what an informal fun portrait is...

Good snap...

This shot is completely natural and not posed , that is why it is such an excellent image. You can see immediatly that they are naturally sharing a moment, something that is very difficult to get people to pose doing.

When ever I go to friends/family get togethers (weddings etc) the only shots I look at getting are of people unaware that I am there and being totally natural and when they see the image 9 out of 10 love them.

So well done, and keep up the keen eye you have for capturing the those special moments that last only seconds

Regards

Rob

I really like the pose they chose. It looks very natural. As others have said, it has a very informal and fun feel. They look so very happy and in love!

You did a nice job on the cropping, too.

I have found that the pictures I like are rarely the ones that the people I am taking them for pick for printing. They can see something in the picture that we can't...

I like this a lot. Candid shots are always my favorite. Nice job capturing the emotion of the moment.

Great picture! Technically, could've done without the brighter light shining on his cheek, but a great feel to it.

Every time they look at this picture they will remember the joke and the moment.
My guess is that's why it was their favorite.
Sometimes photography is about emotion.

great picture, but I agree that the lighting is a bit too hard and it falls across her face awkwardly. But it has a lot of charcter and emotion, good catch.

Thanks for your feedback, particularly the ones with the CC re harsh lighting. I am new to the studio setting and maybee lacking in a bit of confidence re use of lights. I take on board the comments re lights. I will just have to experiment some more with positioning. I was thinking of ditching the umbrellas and getting two 60 x 60 cm soft boxes.
