The G6 is better than the G5 in all aspects. I had the same dillema one year ago and settled for my G6. I assure you it's a very good camera. Only DLR beat it.

I disgree that G6 is better than G5 in all aspects. Have shot with both and G6 has some advantages But I believe that G5 takes much sharper pictures. I shot the same portrait with both cameras and compared them, G5 is considerably sharper. I then printed both images 13x19 inch and it is clearly visible. The G6 has some internal tweaking to deal better with noise, which it does well, at the expense of some sharpness.
Please do this experiment yourself if you can and you will see what I mean.

You're sure making me feel good!

I've never even seen a G6, but I like my G5.

You should try it both in your own hands. I think the G6 has worse control than G5. The buttons are dislocated not as good as on the G5 (that can be just my opinion, but think abou that)

Love my G5. Going from your 20D to either one, you will get frustrated with the shutter lag, but in most cases you learn to deal with it. I would imagine that you'll find a much better price on the G5, and besides, black looks cooler!

Hi all, i've not been here for a while. Take a look at my site to see if buying a G6 will make your mind up, nearly all these pics have been shot in RAW setting except for the 'super macro' as it sets to jpeg auto.....??

Good luck.

Hi!
I am the owner of both a G5 and a G6.
In fact I bought a G6 a year ago, and the G5 about three months ago on ebay, so I could use it on a HDRI project with custom-made software (PC controlled) etc.
If you can find a good deal on a G5 on ebay (I got mine for $260 including P&P to Greece), get it.
In reality however, the G6 is a better camera. I haven't noticed any difference in sharpness (I print on an EPSON R2400), and the bigger image allows you to crop and straighten without worries.
Although many G6 users will disagree with me, the only regret I have on buying the G6, is that I didn't buy the Pro1 instead...

Hi Mannytkd, checked-out your site and really impressed with your pic's. I've had a G6 for a year now but to date have not used the raw feature, i think i ought to give it a try for myself, having seen your great results!

Regards Phil.
